Arinya at 10 months, standing about 13.2h new pictures on picture page, April, 2005
Arinya wins her yearling filly/colt class at her first show! April 10, 2005
Arinya Morning Star at one week old Arinya was born about dawn on June 6, 2004. She is by the Shagya stallion Starwalker and out of the Arabian mare RA Desert Storm. According to the North American Shagya Society Registrar, she is the first Shagya-bred foal to be born in Florida. She is registered with both the North American Shagya Society and with the Arabian Horse Association. Arinya is one of some 200 registered part-bred Shagyas in North America (and there are only about 200 purebreds in North America and a few thousand in the world). She will be eligible for inspection by the NASS Breeding Committee to be approved for Shagya breeding, and her survival and eventual contribution to the genetic pool of this rare breed is important! Click here for more pictures (including sire and dam). Some of these are taken after the infamous 2004 Florida hurricanes--Arinya is a veteran of three hurricanes in her first months--and some are before those eventful days. As a true survivor, she has quite a story to tell! On October 13, 2004 Arinya almost died in the pasture and with IV treatment was stabilized enough to survive the two hours trailer ride with her dam to the University of Florida Veterinary School equine clinic. She was diagnosed with an intestinal salmonella infection a few days later, and has needed intensive care just to survive. Please click for more information about her condition and treatment.
